This 2-day safari in Nyungwe National Park will enable you to explore the primate hub of Rwanda, where you will have the opportunity to see the greatest variety of primates. It will also give you the chance to engage in chimpanzee trekking in Rwanda, where you will have the opportunity to observe the behavior of habituated chimpanzee troops in the wild, giving you the chance to watch a variety of rewarding features of primates like how they coexist with one another, for example. As part of this 2-day safari in Nyungwe National Park will, you will also take part in the canopy walk, which allows you to see Nyungwe National Park’s many rewarding attractions from above as you stroll along a metallic walkway. Nyungwe forest national park is well known for harboring of 13 different primate species, which represents 25% of all the primate species in Africa. It also has 38 reptile species, 1,068 plant species, 85 mammal species, 32 amphibian species, 275 bird species, and 32 amphibian species. As part of the Albertine Rift, with elevations ranging from 1,600 to 3,000 meters, It has the biggest high-altitude montane forest in East and Central Africa, which is a critically important environment all by itself. Nyungwe Forest National Park is located about 200 kilometers from Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city.

Itinary in details

This morning, you will be picked up from your Kigali hotel by a driver and driven south to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will stop in Butare to visit the Rwandan National Museum and the King’s Palace in Nyanza, with lunch on route. Following lunch, you’ll go to Canopy Walk, a 50-meter-long swing bridge strung from enormous trees. You will be able to observe the spectacular rainforest from above, witnessing wildlife moving around below you, before returning to your accommodation to spend the evening at leisure.

On the second day of your two-day Nyungwe national park safari, eat breakfast and go for a briefing about the endangered chimps before venturing into the forest in search of the lively and playful chimps. The Chimpanzees are considerably more visible as they jump from one tree to the next, talking and laughing. Chimpanzee tracking typically takes 3 hours. You will spend an hour with them when you locate them and you will be allowed to take pics, videos. After that, you’ll head back to your accommodation to change, eat lunch, and check out before starting the five-hour trip back to Kigali, where your safari will come to an end.
