Take this amazing 2-day journey from Cairo to St. Catherine’s Monastery and see Egypt’s most significant biblical monuments. Follow in Moses’ footsteps by entering the Sinai Desert, climbing Mount Sinai for a breathtaking desert sunrise, and then touring the Saint Catherine Monastery. St. Catherine’s Monastery is the oldest continuously inhabited Christian monastery in the world, with a history spanning seventeen centuries. The monastery is thought to have been established when God appeared to Moses in the Burning Bush, as described in the Old Testament. The Church also honors the 170 other saints known as the Sinai saints. Additionally, here are the revered relics of Saint Catherine.
The monastery has never been demolished, therefore it may be claimed to have kept the unique characteristics of its Greek and Roman past. People from other Christian confessions have honored the monastery by visiting this revered location as pilgrims. But from the very beginning, the Christians who lived in Sinai belonged to the Greek-speaking world, and they still do today.
On this day, a representative from Dav Safaris will pick you up from your accommodation in a contemporary, air-conditioned vehicle, and then drive you the approximately 6-hour distance to St. Catherine. When you arrive, you will check into your hotel and rest till the evening.
This morning, very early in the morning, you will be driven to Moses’ Mountain from your accommodation. You will have a Bedouin guide with you as you ascend the mountain to aid in your ascent of the revered mountain. After the ascent, it’s time to descend; you’ll reach the bottom at around 7:00 a.m., where you’ll be led to the Monastery of St. Catherine, one of the most well-known monasteries in the entire world. Saint Catherine, one of Alexander’s monarchs, was honored in the monastery. You will then eat breakfast at the hotel and travel back to Cairo.
