Embarkation for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park on Day 1

After an early breakfast at 7:00am, you will be picked up by our guide from the airport in Entebbe or your accommodation in either Kampala, or Kigali. Before you travel to Bwindi Impenetrable, which is located in the southwest of Uganda, you will receive a briefing on the entire safari. You will stop by a town that makes drums and other crafts nearby on the route called (Mpambire).After that, make a photo stop at the Equator and feel free to shop for crafts and mementos before continuing on to Mbarara town, where your lunch will be served. Afterwards, continue to Bwindi, where you will eventually reach in the late afternoon. Check in at the lodge and unwind afterwards then have a dinner.

After a leisurely breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters where you will be divided into groups of eight and given a briefing by park rangers on what to do and what not to do while in the park. When instructed by the rangers continue and begin gorilla trekking with these gentle giants. Seeing the mountain gorillas eat, play, and go about their daily lives is a remarkable and magnificent experience. Due to the location and movement of the gorillas, this activity may take 2 hours or even up to 8 hours. Expect to walk a lot of distances through steep and muddy terrain as well; this will require you to have a walking stick. You will spend an hour with the gorillas when you first meet them, take pictures. After return to the lodge, and in the evening, you can pick between unwinding there or visiting the Batwa community, where you will be exposed to their culture through the way they live, dance, and hear stories about it that will astound you. After dinner, stay the night.

Enjoy an early breakfast, check out of the “Switzerland of Uganda,” and then begin your journey back to Kampala via terraced undulating hills. You’ll also enjoy seeing the rich foliage of the many places you’ll pass through. Have lunch in Mbarara before continuing on to Mpambire Drum Makers Point. Continue to Kampala and arrive there in the late afternoon after purchasing several of these drums. The tour guide will deliver you to your hotel or to the airport in time for your return flight.

Bwindi is one of Uganda’s most thrilling national parks, and you must visit it when on a safari there. On the basis of the remaining population in the globe, it is renowned for being the home to several mountain gorillas. There are currently about 750 gorillas left, with half of them living in Bwindi. Although they are rarely observed, other primates like chimpanzees are also present here. The same thing happens to other animal species, including antelopes and forest elephants. The park is situated in southwest Uganda, close to the Western Rift Valley’s escarpment.

When you have the chance to stroll through this forest, you will understand why it is called “Bwindi,” which translates to “darkness.” A magnificent creek runs through the forest, and as you hike into the dense forest, you’ll come across waterfalls as well. While physical fitness is not necessary for trekking, it is usually recommended because there are many steep slopes to climb when in search of these gentle giants. Nothing is more exhilarating and adventurous than going gorilla trekking, in my opinion.

In addition to the gorillas, visitors will also be able to witness other species in the park, including over 350 different bird species, tree species, butterfly species, and frog species, among others. If one is interested in gorilla habituation, each permit is $1500 per person. The cost of the gorilla trekking permit is $600 per person. Many people consider it a dream come true to go gorilla tracking in the magnificent Bwindi.

The Bwindi Birds

There are 350 different bird species in this area, although only 23 of them are native to the Albertine Rift, and another 14 are unknown to other Ugandan parks. Here, you can find a variety of birds, like the Collared Apalis, the Gorgeous Francolin, the African Broadbill, and Cinnamon.

The Environment and Weather in Uganda for Gorilla Trekking

The Parks’ elevation varies, ranging from 1,190 meters to 2,607 meters above sea level. Nonetheless, more than 60% of the park is above 2000 meters above sea level. There are between 1,400mm and 1,900mm of yearly rainfall. Take note that March and April see the most precipitation.
