This 3-day tour will take you to Namibia’s most popular sights. You will go to the Namib Desert and Sossusvlei, where some of the tallest sand dunes in the world are found. One of Namibia’s most beautiful places is in the country’s south. Sossusvlei can be regarded as a year-round location in terms of avoiding rain with an annual rainfall of barely 50 mm (2 inches). Almost all rain falls in the summer, typically as thunderstorms from December through February. The vleis, low-lying spaces between the dunes, occasionally fill with water and create stunning scenery. The scenery will astound you whenever you arrive, regardless of the season. Although admittedly slightly warmer in the summer, temperatures are warm all year round. In typical desert tradition, it is also exceedingly dry. But occasionally throughout the summer, it may rain over the surrounding area, and on exceptionally rare occasions, it can even rain in the Sossusvlei region itself. You might catch a glimpse of the extremely rare sight of patches of green grass on the dunes and generally dry pans filled with water during this season.
After arrival in Namibia, you will be greeted by your safari guide. Then you’ll head to Sossusvlei. We’ll travel across the Khomas Hoch land before entering the Namib Desert through one of the picturesque mountain passes. Depending on how many pauses there are for photos, this trip will last around 4 hours. Dinner and lodging will be provided at one of the top lodges in the region, which is ideally located for exploring the nearby desert and its attractions.
After an early breakfast and cup of coffee, we’ll set off on a morning tour to Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei. Along the way, we’ll make a picturesque pit stop at Dune 45 and rest for a few hours at both Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei. The view from the top, for those who dare, is one you won’t soon forget. Some of the dunes in the vicinity are a few hundred meters high. We will join the lodge for a sundowner nature drive after lunch and a well-earned nap before arriving back at the lodge in time for dinner.
After an early breakfast, we will drive to Windhoek, where you may either spend the night and do your last-minute shopping or connect to your flight back home.
