Queen Elizabeth national is located in south western region of Uganda near Kasese city. The park is regarded to be the most popular savannah park in Uganda and one of the most visited national parks. The was gazette in 1952 covering over 1,970 Km2. The UNESCO Heritage site is home to number of wildlife species like leopards, lions, hippos, hyenas, impalas, topsi, chimpanzees, Uganda kobs, elephants Aquatic wildlife like Nile crocodile, python, to mention but a few.

The park is home to over 615 registered bird species which is 6th highest diversity in the world and number one in Africa making it a perfect destination site for birding. The park is famously known for harboring Africa’s big cats including the famous tree climbing lions in ishasha sector. All these wild animals are viewed during the game drives and also on a boat cruise at ‘’kazinga channel’’ which is a bi-sector of Lake Edward and George which were named after the king of England and prince of Scotland.

During your 3 days Queen Elizabeth National park you will be able to see the Rwenzori ranges which is the 3rd highest mountain in Africa. Like any other national park in Uganda the best time to be at Queen Elizabeth national park is during the dry season in months of June to September and December to February. During this period there is less rainfall and the park receives warm temperatures, also the park trails are a bit passable than in the rainy season. Itinary in details

A frequent English speaking guide from Dav safaris will pick you up from an agreed pick up point usually an Hotel or Entebbe international airport at around 7-8 am and brief you at the safari. The journey to the park will take about 7 hours’ drive including the Equator monument and lunch time were you will be treated like king or queen, during the drive you will be exposed to great magnificent views on the road sides of the country. You will stopover along the way to experience the equator monument and take photos. Therefore you will proceed to mbarara city where you will have your lunch. Then your will proceed to the park as you drive through the great physical landscapes characterized with green savannah, tea plantations, valleys and terrain not forgetting grazing long horned Ankole cattle. You will reach the park min the late afternoon passing through the park trails heading to the lodge. Dinner and overnight will be at either Mweya safari lodge, Katara lodge, park view safari (Luxury) or Bush Lodge (Budget), Elephant hub or ihamba safari lodge (mid-range), Simba safari camp (budget).

You will wake up very early in the morning at around 6 am and take you tea or coffee then go for the early morning game drive in kasenyi or Mwenya peninsular. The drive will take about 3 hours in different park trails where you will have a great opportunity of seeing various animals like water bucks, Uganda Kobs, elephants, buffaloes, lions, warthogs and as well as number of bird species birds like collared pratincole, swamp flycatcher, shoebill. After the game drive, be taken back to the lodge to have a late breakfast as waiting for the lunch. Later during the afternoon, you will be taken to Kazinga channel the connecting water surface of the two magnificent lakes Edward and George for a pleasure boat cruise for 2 hours, while on the boat you will have an opportunity to see a number of aquatic animals like Hippos, crocodiles, pythons and also land wildlife animals like buffaloes, warthogs, elephants, Uganda kobs among others. During the boat cruise you will also have a chance to see number of bird species like the malachite kingfishers, pink backed pelicans, on the banks of the lake and in trees. Then you will drove back to the lodge to have a Dinner and Overnight.

With the exciting memories of the past two day’s experience, you will have a long sleep and wake up at around 9 am and have great breakfast. Then check out of the lodge, however you could choose to have a nature walk in the Park or not. Enjoy your lunch along the way back to Kampala, also have a stopover at masaka city buy some souvenirs then proceed to Kampala, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or Entebbe international airport in the evening.
