This 4-day trip to Rwanda includes chimpanzee trekking and a Lake Kivu safari. Nyungwe National Park is located in the southwest of the country and is home to a variety of primate species, including chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, and chimpanzees. While in the park, you may take part in an amazing canopy walk where you can see various tree types, birds, and more. You can access Lake Kivu via Nyungwe National Park, where you may capture gorgeous images, enjoy a nice wind, and see aquatic life while on a boat tour.

The Lake Kivu is situated in the western portion of the Great East African Rift Valley, within the Albertine Rift Escarpment. A relatively long lake, Lake Kivu spans an area of around 2,700 square kilometers along its length and is 1,460 meters above sea level. The majority of this lake lies in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and 42% of its waters are on the Rwandan side. The Lake’s magnificent shoreline is surrounded by many tourist towns including Kibuye, Gisenyi, commonly known as Rubavu, and Cyangugu. Itinary in details

Depending on your arrival time, our driver guide will meet you at the Kigali international airport and give you a briefing on your safari before driving you to Nyungwe National Park, which is situated in the south-western region of Rwanda. On your route, you’ll stop at the King’s Palace and Museum in Nyanza, which used to be King Mutara’s home. Here, you can get a great view of the long-horned Inyambo cattle in the back and explore many traditional objects in the museum. Following the tour of the King’s palace, you will eat lunch on the before continuing to Nyungwe National Park, where you will check into the lodge, enjoy supper, and spend the night.

Accommodation

Following an early breakfast, you will meet your driver/guide and travel to the park’s administrative center for a briefing on the dos and don’ts for chimpanzee trekking. Following the briefing, a park guide who is knowledgeable about the jungle’s pathways will be assigned to your chimpanzee group, and you can then begin trekking. Because chimpanzees like to wander from one spot to another in quest of food, chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe National Park might take anything from 30 minutes to 4 hours. Once the chimpanzees have been located, you will be permitted to spend an hour with them in their natural environment. This will offer you the chance to learn more about their way of life, habits, and mannerisms, as well as to snap pictures and make movies to share with those back home. You will walk back to the park headquarters where you will meet your driver guide and drive back to the lodge for lunch after a thrilling encounter with the chimpanzees.

You will have a thrilling 90-meter canopy walk above the forest after lunch. Following your time spent on the canopy walk, you will travel back to the beginning, where your driver guide will be waiting to take you back to the lodge for supper and the night.

Following breakfast, you’ll check out of the hotel and meet your driver/guide to drive you to Gisenyi, where you’ll take part in an exhilarating boat tour on Lake Kivu, the largest freshwater lake in Rwanda. You will get fantastic views of the steep terraced hills, lovely landscapes, views of the sunset, and a variety of bird species like pelicans, regal crowned cranes, and malachite kingfishers, among others, while on the boat ride. Along with interacting with the fishermen who will be fishing from dugout canoes, you will participate in a variety of lakeside activities like swimming, sunbathing, speed boating, and canoeing, all of which will leave you with lifelong memories. Once you’ve had an incredible day on the lake, return to your lodge for diner and a night stay

Accommodation

After a leisurely breakfast at the resort this morning, check out and meet your driver guide for the ride to Kigali for a city tour. You will visit a number of tourism destinations during the city tour, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, where you can learn about the brutal killing of many people in Rwanda during the 1994 genocide between Hutus and Tutsis, the Kandt Museum of Natural History, and craft shops where you can purchase souvenirs to send home. After the city tour, you’ll eat lunch at one of the local eateries and sample a variety of Rwandan dishes before beginning the trip to the airport, where your driver guide will drop you off so you can catch your next flight.
