Lake Elementaita is a soda lake in the Great Rift Valley that is situated between Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru and is hidden by a nearby hill that resembles a sleeping warrior. The Lake is situated in the center of Kenya, some 120 kilometers northwest of Nairobi, the country’s capital. It is close to the Nairobi-Nakuru expressway. Elmenteita is a Masai word that meaning “dust place,” and Lake Elementaita was given that name to alludes to the excessive dustiness of the region, particularly between January and March when it is dry. Lake Elementaita basin contains one of the oldest Oldowan archaeological sites, with stone tools from 700,000 years ago discovered at Kariandusi.

Itinary in details

On this day you will be picked from your hotel in Nairobi by your safari driver, your safari driver will give you a brief introduction to your safari before you start your journey to Lake Elementaita. This lake is an excellent bird watching location, with hundreds of flamingos. There is also Kekopey hot springs near the lake’s southern end. After arriving, you’ll check into your lodge, eat lunch, and then drive to a lake to observe flamingos, pelicans on the lake’s banks, and many other creatures such as zebras, gazelles, warthogs, and elands as they graze. You will return to your lodge in the evening, eat dinner, and spend the night.

The second day of your 4-day safari in Kenya will begin with breakfast at your lodge, followed by check-out and a journey to the Masai Mara National Reserve, which is known for the great wildebeest migration and the big five animals—lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinoceroses, and leopards. Once you get to the park, you’ll check into your lodging, eat lunch, and then come back for another game drive in the late afternoon. You will eat dinner and spend the night at your lodge in the evening.

On this day, you will have breakfast in the early morning at your lodge before leaving for a full day of adventure in the Masai Mara National Reserve, with a picnic lunch. You will get the chance to see a variety of creatures, including lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, hartebeests, antelopes, elephants, cheetahs, and many others, while on a full-day game drive around the park. You will have a picnic lunch along the Mara River, followed by another game drive in the afternoon to visit and explore more of the Masai Mara National Reserve. You will have dinner and spend the night at your lodge.

On your final day of your safari, you should enjoy your morning meal at your leisure before checking out of your hotel and bidding farewell to the Masai Mara National Reserve. You should then head back to Nairobi, where you will be dropped off either at your accomodation or the airport in time for your journey home.
