4 Days Rwanda Gorillas, Lake Kivu & Golden Monkeys

Description

The 4 Days Rwanda Gorillas & Lake Kivu Safari combines gorilla trekking in Rwanda, a Lake Kivu tour, and Golden Monkey trekking into a single itinerary. Lake Kivu is a picturesque lake located within Rwanda’s Virunga hills; the fresh rift valley water lake is submerged in the engrossment of trees lining up the western arm of the huge African rift valley. Idjwi Island, the world’s tenth biggest island, is located in Lake Kivu. The three major towns of Lake Kivu—Gisenyi, Kibuye, and Cyangugu—are spaced apart by about three to four hours. However, during our most recent visit, lengthy road construction projects were lengthening the commutes.

Volcanoes national park is situated in Northwestern Rwanda and shares borders with the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. The park’s abundance of plant and animal life has earned it the title of one of the world’s most diverse biosphere reserves. In addition to its highland rainforest, Volcanoes National Park has evergreen and bamboo forests, wetlands, and opens grassland. It serves as a sanctuary for a wide range of other wildlife species, including two habituated golden monkey tribes. Daily trekking expeditions to see golden monkeys starts from the headquarters in Kinigi.
