One of the few remaining Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the mysterious Pyramids of Giza, are located in Cairo, the country’s largest metropolis and former capital. Meal plan: Lunch and Dinner

You will begin your tour after breakfast by visiting Memphis, which served as the capital of both Upper and Lower Egypt. the first dynasty, some 5000 years ago. Visit Sakkara, one of the most intriguing historical and archaeological areas in all of Egypt, which is located about 12 miles south-west of Cairo. The well-known step pyramids of king Zoser dominate the area. It was the first pyramid built in ancient Egypt, constructed several years before those at Giza, and it was designed by the renowned pharaonic architect Imhotep. The Greeks considered the Sphinx and Pyramids to be two of the Seven Wonders of the World. Each of the 2, 300,000 blocks that make up a single pyramid weighs an average of two and a half tons. One cannot but experience the wonder and amazement that so many authors and artists have attempted to capture throughout the ages in the face of such enormity. The fact that the public can visit the inside burial chamber of the Cheops Pyramid adds to its appeal. The Great Sphinx of Giza, which is nearby and was constructed during the reign of Chephren (2620BC), is an ancient monument. This iconic statue combines a pharaoh’s head with a lion’s body, standing 65 feet high and 187 feet long and carved from natural yellowish limestone.

Early in the morning, from Cairo, we take a jeep south towards Faiyoum, which is 130 kilometers (81 miles) southwest of Cairo. It is the oldest city in Egypt and one of the oldest cities in Africa. It is also the largest oasis in the Western Desert. We stop at Lake Qaroun for a 30-minute felucca tour before Kaser Qarun. We explore the spring and waterfall at Wadi Rayan before continuing into the desert and arriving at Wadi Al Hitan, also known as the Valley of Whales, where the location offers insight into one of the most important questions regarding the development of whales.

Start your tour after breakfast at your hotel, passing past El Tharir Square, which has historically been the scene of various significant rallies and demonstrations in recent years. Then, visit the Egyptian Museum, the largest repository of Egyptian antiquities in the entire world. It includes antiquities from the Pharaonic and Greco-Roman eras, including riches from Tut Ankh Amun and the celebrated mummies of ancient Egypt’s monarch. Then, we continue our journey by stopping at the Hanging Church, Saints Sergius Church, and the Church of the Holy Virgin Old Cairo in Old Cairo. Khan El Khalili, one of Cairo’s top attractions for both tourists and Egyptians.
