Itinary in details

Upon arrival, your safari guide will pick you up and drive for the two to three hours from Kigali to the Volcanoes National Park. Once you arrive in Musanze, you will check into your hotel. You can then choose to relax and spend the evening at your leisure after an optional community visit of Ruhengeri to learn about Rwandan culture.

After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled water for a briefing from the park ranger guides. Following the introduction to the golden monkeys, follow the golden monkey tracking route into the park where you can spot additional primates, birds, and butterflies. Depending on where the golden monkeys are, the trip can take two to five hours. You will return to your lodge for a dinner and overnight stay.

Check out of the hotel and travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park following breakfast. The drive to the park takes between 6 and 7 hours. Along the way, you’ll stop for lunch, enjoy views of the Virunga Mountains and Lake Kivu, and take photos. Drive to Nyungwe, then connect to your lodging for a meal, rest, and overnight stay.

Get up early, have breakfast, and go to the Nyungwe Forest National Park to report for an experiential briefing. The Unuyove route is one of the best places to enter the forest for chimpanzee and bird watching. The chances of seeing chimpanzees and other primates like Grey-cheeked Mangabeys in Nyungwe Forest are not guaranteed because the chimpanzees there are not habituated, so they tend to be shy and run away from tourists. However, the rangers typically try their best to make sure that you see the chimpanzees by any means. This trail is ideal for bird watching as well because a variety of bird species can be seen. You can unwind at the waterfalls along this trail before returning to meet your safari guide. The hike takes three to four hours to complete. . You will return to your lodge for a dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, go out on your return trip to Kigali, stopping for lunch along the way. You will either be left off to the accommodation you have reserved on your own, or at Kigali International Airport, where you will catch your trip home with fond memories.
