Itinary in details

Greetings from Namibia! Your name will be posted on a signboard and your Nature Travel Namibia guide will be there to greet you in the airport’s arrivals area. We will have a short 45-minute drive to our first lodge, which is close to the airport, once you load your stuff into the car. Along the way to the resort, if we’re lucky, we might spot some wildlife for the first time. We will take a sundowner wildlife drive on the neighboring Zannier Reserve, depending on when you arrive. Game drives at dusk reveal the nocturnal savannah’s mysterious beauty. If we’re fortunate, we might come across a wide range of animals, such as rhinos, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, leopards, ostriches, black-backed jackals, warthogs, and other antelopes and bird species. After discussing the sightings from the afternoon over our first dinner together, we’ll get some rest in preparation for our upcoming expedition.

We’ll meet for breakfast at 8:00 a.m. today to discuss our plans for the day. We’ll stop frequently along the trip to take pictures of the breathtaking scenery. We’ll take a break for coffee in the middle of the morning to take in the breathtaking views of Namibia. If there is time, we will pause to have the “famous apple pie” in Solitaire, a must-do Namibian custom. It will take four to five hours to complete this excursion. As we debate the arrangements for tomorrow’s early start, we will arrive at our lodge, which is near to Sesriem’s entrance gate, in time to view the lovely sunset.

In order to prepare for our trip to Sossusvlei, we shall rise before the sun rises. After a brief cup of coffee or tea, we will wait for the park’s entrance gates to open. (The entrances open at dawn.) While admiring the splendor of the sun rising over the incredible red dunes, we will drive for about 30 minutes. The over 400-meter-high dunes in this region, which are some of the highest in the world, offer a fantastic opportunity to take amazing pictures in the lovely morning and evening light. The most daring among you can climb the dunes, slither down them, or take a quick stroll to Dead Vlei. There will be plenty of time for you to take in all the sights around Sossusvlei. Halfway through, we’ll stop and enjoy the scenery while eating a picnic-style breakfast. We will return to the lodge for lunch and some free time after a long morning of activities. We will meet at the lodge for a sundowner drive late in the afternoon. There will be plenty of time for you to take in all the sights around Sossusvlei. This morning, we can have a leisurely breakfast and, for those who are interested, we can go on a balloon ride in the early morning. (it is optional it requires extra fee). We’ll proceed cautiously as we travel to Swakopmund, our next stop. Once more, we’ll take a break for coffee along the road and pause to take pictures of the scenery as it changes. After a late afternoon arrival, we will have time to check in before meeting up for sundowner drinks and a delicious dinner at one of the town’s numerous top-notch restaurants.

As we prepare for our excursion this morning, we will awaken to another sunset in Namibia. You will be picked up for your Living Desert Adventure following breakfast. After lunch, we’ll travel to Walvis Bay and wait for you to return to the hotel around 1:00 pm. We will be awed by the countless water birds that make the Walvis Bay Lagoon their home here. We will return to Swakopmund where we will take in our final Namibian sunset and have dinner at one of the town’s eateries. There are a variety of extra activities available in Swakopmund. These include catamaran cruises, horseback riding, skydiving, quad biking, fat bike rides, and scenic flights. If any of these alternatives interest you, please inquire.

After a leisurely breakfast and perhaps a little last-minute shopping, we head back to Windhoek, where we leave you off at Hosea Kutako International Airport in time for your next flight home.
