Itinary in details

Your driver guide will be waiting for you at the airport when you arrive, and you’ll be taken to your hotel in the center of Kigali’s quiet, leafy street. Your guide will give you a briefing on the specifics of your upcoming adventure while you enjoy a complimentary drink at the hotel’s pool bar. You are free to tour the city today if you have the time. Your tour guide can take you on a tour of the city or you can go shopping at the craft markets for items like leather, fabrics, musical instruments, pottery, carvings, batik, and batik fabrics.

Today you will have an early breakfast and have time to visit the Genocide Memorial in the city before traveling to Nyungwe Forest. The Genocide Memorial serves as a memorial for the 250,000 victims interred in mass graves nearby and serves as a significant reminder of the unimaginable brutality of the 1994 genocide. You will learn about the most dreadful period in recent Rwandan history while also going through a very emotional and educational experience at the exhibit. After that, you’ll travel west while passing through Butare, which is located about 135 kilometers from Kigali. Visit the Butare National Museum in this location for a glimpse into the rich traditional life and culture of the nation through a variety of ethnographic artifacts on display. After that, you will stop for lunch en route. Continue on to Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of the oldest and possibly most gorgeous rainforests in Africa. With 13 known primate species living there, including colobus monkeys, mangabeys, blue monkeys, and, of course, our closest living relatives, the chimpanzees, the forest is incredibly bio diverse. The 310 bird species that have been identified in Nyungwe Forest, 26 of which are endemic to Rwanda, have made the area famous among birders. Once you arrive at the park, you will check in, wait for dinner, and spend the night there.

You will search for chimpanzees in the depths of Nyungwe Forest National Park after breakfast. You will have the chance to follow a knowledgeable guide into Nyungwe Forest to get a close-up look at these fascinating creatures. It’s fascinating to observe how they interact with one another and go about their daily grooming, playing, and foraging activities. The likelihood of seeing chimpanzees during your tracking trip is high, but it cannot be guaranteed. After all, these are wild animals with free will and independent minds. After drive back to the lodge and have lunch. You go on an optional canopy walk in the afternoon. Should you choose to spend your afternoon taking in the lovely scenery and the lodge’s comforts?

Get up very early, eat breakfast, and travel to Volcanoes National Park for additional picturesque views. Volcanoes National Park contains parts of the Virunga mountain range and its five volcanoes, which form the border between Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This park, in addition to being one of the most beautiful in Africa, is home to mountain gorillas. Have lunch and can as well have an optional activity of visiting the community in the evening.

Following breakfast, tell your hotel to pack for you lunch, after you will be driven to the park office for a briefing and gorilla family assignment. Meeting the rare and endangered mountain gorillas is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You will be tracking one of the habituated family groups that live in the park and can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period of time every day in the company of an experienced park ranger. Meeting mountain gorillas in their natural habitat is a truly humbling and emotional experience that you will remember for the rest of your life.

Enjoy your final morning in the rainforest. In the morning, you will have some time to relax and enjoy the lodge and its surroundings. After breakfast return to Kigali for your flight to Nairobi.

You will be picked up from your hotel in the early morning and driven to the famous Masai Mara. If you’re looking for the Big 5, you’ve come to the right place. The Masai Mara has excellent year-round animal concentration and is known for its short-grass savannah plains, which enhances wildlife viewing. After the game drive you will head back to the lodge to have lunch. In the evening you might opt to have a second game drive to explore the other animals you haven’t seen.

After breakfast, you depart before sunrise, which is a great time to see wildlife because these “golden hours” are when animals are most active as the first sunbeams rest on the savannah. The best time to witness the thrill of the chase, or at the very least the results of a hunt, is in the early morning because few predators hunt during the heat of the day. You can choose whether to bring a packed lunch for a full-day private game drive or return to the camp for a hot lunch before heading back into the bush in the late morning.

Today, take in the sights and sounds of the natural world as you take in your final African sunrise. You can join other visitors for a quick morning game drive if you get up early, and then you can say goodbye to this stunning region of the world. Once you’ve had breakfast, you can either drive to Nairobi overnight or take a transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to catch your international flight home.
