This Moholoholo Rehab Centre add-on tour can be incorporated before or following a Kruger Park safari that has been reserved through Dav safaris. The facility provides medical care to animals and birds hurt by human activity so they can be released back into the wild. One of the knowledgeable field staff members tasked with the wildlife’s care educates you while you have up-close experiences with the creatures temporarily held in captivity. A picturesque 90-minute boat ride through the breathtaking Blyde Canyon is included.
This morning, you will be picked up by our guide and driven down the Abel Erasmus Mountain Pass to the Olifants River and then on to the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. The program at Moholoholo will include a tour of the rehabilitation center, which begins at 3pm, a morning bush walk in the nearby reserve with a ranger, and a nocturnal drive. Many of the injured, poisoned, and abandoned animals in South Africa have found homes at the center. This is a fantastic introduction to the region’s flora and animals for your Kruger Safari. Following dinner, you will go on a night drive in the tiny private reserve that surrounds the resort. Night species such as the Several, African Wildcat, African Genet, Porcupine, White-Tailed Mongoose, Aardwolf, Aardvark, Nightjar, Hyena, and numerous owls may be seen. Of course, it is hard to foretell what will happen, but every drive has its surprises.
Take advantage of this morning’s early-morning bushwalk in the Moholoholo Reserve. The young rangers here will educate you on the local smaller wildlife, birdlife, insects, and plants, all of which are best observed and explored on foot. Following breakfast, we will journey into the Blyde River Canyon to take a magnificent boat ride on the Blyde Dam for 90 minutes. From the boat, you can view the Three Rondawels and the living Kadishi Tufa waterfall. There is a lot of wildlife; you can observe hippopotamuses, crocodiles, and African fish eagles. You will discover more about the past of the third-largest canyon in the world during the cruise. After that, we’ll make our way to your resort in the vicinity of Kruger Park to begin your safari. If necessary, a drop-off can be arranged at the airports in Nelspruit or Johannesburg.
