Itinary in details

Once you arrive, a guide/driver from Dav Safaris will pick you up and take you first to Kasese town, then on to the Rwenzori Mountains National Park. Although the trip takes six hours, you won’t get bored because of the breathtaking scenery along the way. As you approach Kasese, the surrounding scenery, tea plantations, and views of the Rwenzori Mountains will astound you. You’ll make a photo stop at the equator’s intersection and then travel to Mbarara town for lunch. You will need to stock up on the food you’ll need to climb the mountain. Register with the Rwenzori Mountaineering Service offices once you arrive in Kasese.

After a substantial breakfast, you will be driven to the Rwenzori Mountaineering Service offices in Nyakalengija. The gear you need for hiking, as well as designated guides and porters, will be provided. The subsequent five to seven-hour hike to Nyabitaba Hut will begin. The Mubuku River is crossed on the trail leading to Nyabitaba Hut. You will arrive at the Makoma River after two hours. From there, the terrain becomes extremely rocky and treacherous near a forest.

After waking up and eating breakfast, you must hike for seven hours to reach the John Matte hut. You will cross the steep, slick Bujuku and Mubuku rivers. Those who are not prepared for the work ahead should think about turning around at this point. The John Matte hut will be the place to spend the night.

Get up, eat breakfast, and then drive the 3 to 5 hours to the Bujuku Hut. Cross the River Bujuku as you head out of the John Matte hut until you arrive at Lake Bujuku. Until you arrive at the Bujuku Hut, you will continue to follow the trial. You will spend the night at the Bujuku hut.

After leaving the Bujuku Hut, you will ascend through the surrounding area of Mount Baker and Stanley’s thick vegetation. Go around to the Elena Hut at last. At the Elena Hut, you’ll spend the night.

You will ascend on this day to the Elena glacier and then the Stanley Plateau. From this point on, to make climbing easier, you will need crampons. You will climb the Margherita Glacier from the Stanley Plateau to the Summit. After achieving this summit, descend to the Elena Hut, continue past Kitandara Lake, and finally arrive at Kitandara Hut. After ascending Mount Baker or Mount Luigi di Savoia, descend to Kitandara Hut.

The Kitandara Hut – The Guy Yeoman Hut (3261m)

After eating breakfast, get up and start climbing the slopes that surround the River Mobuku. Follow the path that passes through the Kichuchu cliffs to return to the original path by the Bujuku River.

Wake up, eat breakfast, and get ready for the final two hours of your descent. Many different species of birds, primates, and a few mammals can be seen as you get closer to Nyakalengija. The Dav Safaris guide will drive you back to Kampala once you’ve reached the ground and taken a break. In Mbarara town, you’ll make a pit stop for lunch en route. Most likely, you’ll be transferred to the Entebbe airport in the evening or arrive in Kampala in the late afternoon for an overnight stay.
